More and more residential and light commercial air conditioning equipment is being built using HFC-410A instead of HCFC-22. Most of the current air conditioning units Suburban offers use R-410A. R-22, commonly called freon, is known to cause damage to the ozone layer. For this reason, in 2010 units will no longer be produced with R-22. R-410A cannot be used to retrofit existing R-22 equipment. This is due to the much higher discharge pressure and cooling capacity, R-410A should only be used in equipment designed for it.
